Great Father’s Day Gifts for Aging Parents
Father’s Day is just around the corner and you want to find a great, unique and useful gift for your Dad. I created this list of gifts specifically with aging parents in mind. These are some great ideas for some very thoughtful gifts that he will not only love, but use everyday, and think of YOU!
If any of these gifts seem perfect for your Dad, you can easily find the products pictured below on Amazon by clicking directly on the photo.
1. Wireless Earphones
These are great for watching TV without disturbing his neighbor. They begin recharging simply by placing them back on their stand, so they should be really simple to operate once set up.
2. Portable DVD Player
Perfect for up-close viewing. Pair it with a few movies or DVDs of some old favorite TV shows. These particular options have fewer buttons for easy operation. Pair these with the wireless headphones and he will really be set!
3. Cup Holder For Wheel-Chair
This seems like an odd or simple gift, but I’m telling you, they are a HIT at my facility! For a nicer gift, pair it with the Yeti Tumbler (See Number 4) or place it in a basket with his favorite snacks, drinks and a throw.
4. Yeti Tumbler
This gift really speaks for itself, keeps drinks cold or hot for very long periods of time. Fits in most cup holders and is very durable. Also, from a safety standpoint, because it’s metal, you don’t have to worry about it dropping and breaking like glass.
5. Travel Game Set
My guys really like to meet up for Chess, Dominoes or Poker groups in the evenings so having a set that easily folds away would be really handy and really appreciated. And he will think of you every time he gets together with the guys for a game.
6. Bird House or Bird Feeder
He will love all the bird watching he will enjoy with this thoughtful gift. This one in particular is not only nice to look at but easy to maintain as well.
7. Magnifying Glass with Light
You will be surprised how often this little gadget will come in handy! This would be a great gift paired with a good book or tool kit if he still likes to tinker.
8. Premium Slipper and Lounge Set
Part of the joy of being retired is getting to be comfortable! No work, no commitments, just time to enjoy. With any of these soft and cozy sets, your Dad is sure to be spoiled!
9. Joke Book
What better to give good ole Dad than a book of Dad jokes he and his friends are sure to enjoy!
10. Subscription Box Membership
Give Dad the gift that keeps on giving with a subscription box membership. There are so many options to choose from out there, you are sure to find one perfect for Dad. He will really enjoy getting mail every month, especially if you don’t live close by and aren’t able to visit as much as you’d like. Here are a few options below:
Love with Food Box (https://try.lovewithfood.com/home/) This box will send Dad healthy all natural snacks he can enjoy all month. They are currently offering your first box for less than $12, down from the regular $20. They ship on the first of each month.
Grand Box (https://www.mygrandbox.com/) At $30 per month, this box delivers a little more variety than others. Included are at least 5 items based on a monthly theme such as snacks, photos, personalized notes, puzzles/small games, and more. This is my personal top pick because of the variety and because it is really curated with seniors in mind.
FanChest (https://www.fanchest.com) This is not a monthly subscription but more by box purchasing, but of course you can order how ever often you wish. The prices vary depending on box and are more expensive than other options, but so is the gear you get in each box. These boxes are filled with fan gear from your Dad’s favorite sports team. The website is organized well by teams so it will be easy to find something you know Dad will love.
Society Socks (https://mysocietysocks.com) If your Dad is a fan of fun socks, this is the monthly subscription for him! You can include a personal note with each box each month. You can choose between 3 month, 6 month or 12 month subscriptions, prices ranging from $57 (3months) to $199 (12 months).
I hope this list gives you some great ideas for Dad and you enjoy a great Father’s Day together!
